Why a Freedom Party – Bob Law

We Need The Freedom Party, Now More Than Ever

It is time to reconsider how Blacks are going to engage in the American political process.

Currently everything Black is being denounced as inappropriate and unnecessary, there are many who have attempted to use the election President Obama to silence and marginalize the Black political presence in this country. For fear of creating a white backlash that would be directed toward the President, even the most courageous Black voices have chosen to be silent. The Black community at large has agreed to move into the shadows in order to help President Obama prove that he is president of all the people and that he has no particular affinity toward Blacks.

In this political environment the right wing becomes embolden, launching a vicious attack on all that Obama does, including calling on God or some deranged white racist to kill him. Even moderate Blacks now feel free to abandon the legitimate unresolved concerns of Black Americans. Lets be clear it was the Black political presence in this nation that has always been Americas moral compass, it was the Black movement alone that drove America to “Put bright eyed justice back on her rightful throne.” Without that strident Black voice a distorted political perspective begins to prevail,

In New York State at the close of the first decade of the 21st century The New York State Democratic Party sees fit to run a lily white gubernatorial ticket in this important mid term election. It was that kind of politics that prompted Fannie Lou Hammer to launch the Mississippi Freedom Democrats in the 1960’s. Once again it is the Freedom Party that sets out to reaffirm the legitimacy of Black needs and concerns. We are building a movement to insure that Blacks and Latinos are included in the growth and development of New York State in a meaningful way.

The Freedom Party, Now More Than Ever

We are asking you to think differently about the political process, like all other groups Blacks must play to win, symbolic victories will no longer suffice. Consider this, other leaders want immigration reform in return for 68% of the Latino vote, a woman supreme court judge who is committed to woman’s rights, more attention given to protect the rights of gay people, all of which they have a right to insist on. However in the absence of that strident Black voice, the legitimate unresolved issues still confronting Black Americans becomes obscured.

If the authentic voices of Black & Latino people remain silent we will always be offered inadequate remedies that are emotionally gratifying but leave us without power or substance of any kind.
